Waist Hips and Thighs – Before the site was born

Before there was Waist, Hips, & Thighs my wife and I were just two happy people living the college life and enjoying ourselves.  We both were active as being on campus called for a lot of walking, partying and just simply being out and about just doing things.  We never could seem to sit down.

That college would also be the first part of my wife’s story on the up and down of weight gain.  You see when people talk about the freshmen 15-20 (gaining pounds freshmen) a lot seem to think or take it as a joke.  All I have to say is go ask my wife about it and see if she thinks it’s a myth.

Being Active is Only Half the Battle

You know how people will tell you that you just need to be active, do more exercise, going to the gym and stuff like that?  Well to be honest that ISH isn’t going to work miracles by itself!  My wife was as active as a person could be. Walking to class, going to the gym, being a part of her sorority, and going to parties every weekend, she was very active.

She was so active that she never really paid attention to the garbage she was eating and how unhealthy her eating habits were.  Of course being active help but it couldn’t stop her from gaining the pounds freshmen year of college.

You Can’t Out Exercise a Bad Diet

If you are new to my site then you probably have never read the statement above but it holds to be so very true.  My wife didn’t sit on her ass on all the time like most but what she was eating was killing her and her self esteem.

From the $.50 hot wings and pizza slices from Five Star pizza to the late night drinking at parties and the fast food restaurants on the late nights coming from the clubs.  The calories were just too much for her body to burn.  Sure she was active but there isn’t enough dancing in the world that’s going to cover with a high calorie diet.

It’s Not About How Much Eat

Too many women are under the assumption that since they only ate a little bit (as my wife would say) that they shouldn’t be consuming a lot of calories.  Well take a look at the calories in a meal from your favorite fast food place and then tell me if that is true.  Those meals won’t usually fill you up but they sure do pack on the calories.

Before there was intermittent fasting and high intensity interval training for my wife there was a clear understanding that to lose weight she needed both exercise and a great diet.  She finally figured this out her sophomore year in college and the fat started to slowly disappear.  She was starting to get her life back and was happy again.

But then something happened that caused things to change……………that’s a whole other story.

Some women have a problem when others ask how to get rid of love handles. The reason is because those women are willing to accept the appearance or development of love handles as simple sign of aging. I have never heard a woman actually say that she liked anything about her love handles much less be in love with them. The term love handles, was given to the rolls of fat on person’s side back in the early 1900’s. Someone mentioned that the soft supple region of you lover’s stomach should be called a love handle because that is where you can grab them to bring them close to you so you can snuggle or give them a hug (I’m just writing what I found out trust me I can’t make something up that good!!).

Counting Calories Will Improve Your Love Handles

In order to get rid of love handles you have to be willing to count your calories and the easiest way is to keep a journal. You will need to write down everything that you both eat and drink so that you have an accurate count of how many calories you consume each day. Trust me everything counts when it comes to losing your love handles. How much you eat plays a more important role in lose those fat rolls than what you eat. The daily recommended for calories per day is about 2000 calories and for most women to lose the muffin top look they are going to have to eat around 1200-1400 calories.

Cut out the Salt and Drink More Water

Salt contains a lot of sodium which causes you to retain water which will actually make you look larger than you actually are. So if you are eating a lot of processes foods, using a lot of salt or high sodium seasonings you may want to cut back on them. The high sodium causes you to retain water in the areas like your midsection which will make your gut and love handles look bigger than they actually are!

By drinking more water not only do you help the fight against empty calories but you also help your body to get rid of the extra sodium and water retention. First of all, drinking more water means you don’t waste calories drinking soda or alcohol which increases the size of your waistline while still leaving you hungry. Secondly, the more water you drink the less water you retain. I know it’s but in order to get rid of the water your body is holding you have to drink more of it.

Love Handle Exercises Don’t Exist But Exercising Counts

I know you are looking for some exercise to help you get rid of your love handles but the truth is that nothing exists. I telling you the truth and I am not charging you for it like someone in the gym would. You can exercise a particular area to “LOSE FAT” like many may want to believe or have been told in the past. Exercising is however key in you losing love handles simply because by being more active your body is forced to burn calories for fuel. When you are on a low calorie diet the excess calories the body needs ends up coming from you fat. That’s right it makes you love handles get smaller and smaller.

Don’t Listen To All the Love Handle Myths

Don’t get caught up with all the things you hear about how to lose your love handles like do this exercise or don’t eat late at night. Again there is no exercise that is going to get rid of the fat above your waistline. And please don’t listen to someone who tells you not to eat past a certain time of day. The only time you are going to gain weight is if you eat more calories than your body can burn.

Well for most women like yourself you want to be able to put on anything and know you LOOK GREAT!  When you have a flat stomach accompanied by nice hips and butt your clothes just seems to look awesome no matter what you wear, men smile more when they see you, and you don’t try to hide from seeing yourself naked in the mirror.  And besides if she can have a nice butt and smaller hips so can you, right?

First the Truth About Hip Exercises

Hip exercises do really exist but a lot of women would be surprised by what I am going to say next.  Don’t be alarmed I just want you to know what you are getting yourself before you attempt any of these exercises.  Exercising your hips will only work and allow you to see a difference if you change your diet and calorie intake. 

I know this is not what you WANT to hear but it’s exactly what you NEED to hear.  You see you probably have already done most if not all of the exercises I am going to mention.  The problem is that your hips are not going to change if you don’t change your eating habits.  Also remember that depending on what body type you are also make a difference in where you store most of your fat.

No Such Thing As Spot Reduction

I know I just told the bad news concerning losing fat in your hip area but some women are just not going to believe me.  See the problem is that too many of you have heard and now believe that you can lose weight or fat from where you want.  You simply believe that if you want get a smaller waist you can tell your body wear to take fat from or if you want fat from your hips to go away you can go buy the HIP LOSER 3000 and it will magically make it disappear.  By now I am sure you have tried and fail miserably using the spot reduction method so let’s just try it my way.

Smaller Hips & Better Butt

One of the keys to having a better butt is having a smaller waistline and smaller hips.  When your waist and hips are smaller in size when compared to your buttocks it makes your rearend look that much better.  A better butt doesn’t mean a bigger one just portionate to the size of your body when in comparasion to other parts.

Focus more on full body workouts – Not only this does give your body a better look but it also gets you out of the mindset that you can simply do specific exercises that will target a specific FAT AREA.  Full body workouts can be done at home and require no equipment.

Stop doing what everyone else does – This is a big problem for a lot of women simply because you tend to be like the company you keep.  If all of your friends go out and have drinks and eat bad you tend to do the same thing they do.  There’s nothing wrong with having a bottle of water or just one drink and if you don’t want to eat all of your food when you go out to for dinner tell them to only serve half and pack the other half in a to go box.

Tip #3 for Smaller Hips and a Better Butt

Eat Less and Move A Lot More – You are going to have to eat fewer calories than your body requires for fuel.  It doesn’t matter how healthy the food is if you are overeating you will still gain weight.  If you eat 2500 calories from fruits and vegetables it is still possible for you do gain weight.  Moving more doesn’t mean working out it could be going to the beach for a walk or rollerblading just don’t sit on your butt all day.

Where Are All the Hip Exercises?

The truth is that there are no magical exercises for your hips to become smaller!  If you want smaller hips you are going to have to lose fat which means better eating and more movement.  Some great exercises for your hips and butt are listed below:
