So recently I posted an article about At Work Weight Gain and realized that I actually didn’t give and pointers or really any tips on how to actually avoid the weight gain. Today I am going to post some tips that will hopefully help you make sure that you don’t fall into the dreaded trap of sitting at your desk or meetings and gaining weight.

Make sure you don’t follow the norms at work eating at every potluck, taking the elevator, and sitting at your desk all day. These simple things add up to a few pounds every few months. Help fight the weight gain at work by following these four simple tips.
How Common Is It
Well, from most of the people I talk with weight gain at work is very common. What I find to be most interesting is that this is especially true among people who are required to set at a desk or in a cubicle all day. Just think about it, how often is it that you or your co-workers have staff birthday or going away parties, potlucks, and even take-out orders. And nowadays with technology it is so easy to become lazy and less active then you should be. So here are some simple ways to help you avoid at work weight gain.
Tip 1: Drink More Water
I know you have heard this on before but drinking water is a valuable asset in helping you fight the battle against weight gain. Make sure that you drink a few glasses of water at work and when you think you are hungry actually grab a glass of water instead. Making sure you have enough water in your system not only helps keep you hydrated but will help you maintain your focus, prevents you from getting tired and also may keep the hungry tamed. It is said that thirst is often mistaken for hunger and people tend to snack on food rather than sipping a little water.
Tip 2: Get Moving
Like I mentioned earlier many women who are consistently putting on weight at work tend to work where they sit at a cubicle or desk. If this is the case then make sure you move around more at work by walking instead of emailing, parking further away from your building, and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. On your lunch break, whether it’s an hour or just 30 minutes, take a walk or walk up and down the stairs. Not only will you be more energized for the rest of the day but you will also be proud of yourself for doing something other than sitting at your desk.
Tip 3: Don’t Let Stress Cause You to Eat
Many are aware that they eat when they are either stressed out or because of their emotions. Though work can be fun and enjoyable it can also be overwhelming, stressful and challenging. This can be very bad and cause your weight to go up from overeating on the bad days at work. Be careful and make sure that you are eating because you are hungry and not because you are pissed at your boss or upset about a project that is causing you to work overtime.
Tip 4: Say Away from the Vending Machines
The vending machines may seem like a quick fix but it is actually causing a long term problem. There are very few healthy choices in a vending machine and even choosing them can be tough when you are staring at your favorite candy or bag of chips. You’d be surprised how many times I hear someone say they are going to get one thing from the vending machine to only end up with something loaded with fat and calories.
NOTE: Another suggestion for ladies looking to keep off the weight gain from work would be to keep track of what you are eating. That means everything! Keep a journal and hold yourself responsible for eating that pack of M&M’s and everything else.
