Losing Weight and Enjoying Life

You know so much gets put into losing weight that women forget to enjoy life itself!  For so long my wife’s focus was on losing weight that life simply passed her by for about 3 years.  This weekend we decided to take a mini vacation to Ft. Lauderdale where we stayed at the B Hotel.

This was a great break for the both of us as we needed a break from our busy lives.  With her working more hours then she cares too and me working full-time and running this site we tend to be very busy.  It was great to unwind, relax and not have to worry about anything for a couple of days.

Are You Really Enjoying Life?

This is a question I ask because I remember a few years ago it seemed as though nothing my wife did made her “happy”.  Being a man, she said I just didn’t understand where she was coming from.  I was lost I didn’t understand if we were going on vacations, she was spending time with her girlfriends, and getting promoted at her job how she couldn’t be happy.

My wife was sick of how her body looked and how it made her feel.  It didn’t matter how beautiful I told her she looked in the inside it was killing her.  She hated her wide hips and thighs simply because nothing she bought ever seemed to fit and how nothing see did seemed to change her shape.

If she found clothing that fit her thighs and hips they were too big in the waist or the clothing just didn’t fit right at all.  She would spend hours in the gym, go running 5 times a week and still there was no change.   She felt miserable to say the least.

Those Where The Days

Gone are the days (not all of them) of my wife being upset with how she looked.  She has been able to make drastic changes in her appearance and she is enjoying life to the fullest.  It’s amazing how something like losing weight can have such an effect on a person.

She doesn’t have to worry about starving herself and enjoys eating all the foods she used to eat before.  The difference now is that she has found a diet (read here) that works for her so she doesn’t feel like the odd ball when she goes out.  She no longer spends hours in the gym doing cardio only to not see any results.  Three times per week she does her turbulence training and in 20-30mins tops she’s done.

The weight has continuously come off and she is looking and feeling as beautiful and confident as ever.  No her hips and thighs are not completely where she wants them but she knows what works for her and each week she is seeing continuous improvement.

New Beginning - Enjoying Life

This was a photo I took from the room window on Memorial Day.  The horizon and sunrise reminds me of a new beginning for my wife, myself and this site.  What gives you a sense of a new beginning?

This Weekend Was A Simple Reminder

For me it was a simple reminder of how far my wife had come over the years.  The fear of going to the beach, wearing a bikini, going shopping or simply wearing a particular dress that made her insecure are almost completely gone.  Not only is she losing weight but she’s happy, which is the most important thing of all!

She has found a balance in life that allows her to not have to kill herself in the gym, spend long hours doing cardio and most of all gives her results.  Life shouldn’t be just about losing weight but its amazing how losing weight allows some people to actually live life.

Find your balance and enjoy life!

Be easy,

She’s Got The Look and So Do You – Lose Weight and Look Great

About She’s Got The Look

“She’s Got the Look” is an original television series hosted by Brooke Burke that airs season 3 August 25, 2010.  The show is all about discovering beautiful and sexy women who are all over the age of 35 years old.  The point of the show is to transform women into a successful model through a journey the pushes them through several competitions ranging from photo shoots to fashion tests.

These are the beautiful women of “She’s Got the Look” season 2.  Being over 30 does’t mean you can’t look and feel great as these women clearly show.  It’s up to you to do the things needed to make sure you are health and strong and look great well after the age of 30.

The Contestants On She’s Got the Look

The great thing about the contestants on She’s Got the Look is that they range from the ages of 35 to 54.   These beautiful women range from grandmothers to certified bus mechanics from Los Angeles California.  These women also vary in height ranges as well in that some of them are as short as 5 foot 4 inches while other top the scale at above 5’7.  What I like is that the show shows you that you can be different older and still beautiful, sophisticated and sexy.

How to Get the Look of These Women

Well the great thing is that all of these women look great and while no one can ever really look the same you too can have a great body and be in awesome shape.  Not only to most of the contestants workout but they also work really jobs and have a happy lifestyle.  These are the tips recommended to get the looks of the contestants.

Tips to Get the Look and Body of the Contestants

Proper Diet – Dieting seems to big the most over looked aspect when it comes to losing weight.  It’s not about what you need to start eating but rather what you need to stop eating.  Many women simply eat too many calories.  I’m not asking you to stop eating your favorite foods just eat less of it and make sure you give your body time to digest and use to food.

Drink Water – A lot of women tell me all the time that they drink enough water on a day to day basis.  The thing is that usually when you are snacking its not because you are hungry but rather because you are thirsty.  When I asked what else the drank that day it is usually followed with I have coffee, a sports drink and some other things.

Cut back on the empty calories – This follows my tip from above about drinking water as so many women don’t realize how many empty calories are in sports drinks and soda.  Just think that you could be adding an additional 500-1000 calories per day from fluids and this doesn’t include calories from your food sources.

Interval Training for Cardio – Yes, you go running on the treadmill but are you doing interval training?  Interval training is designed so that your workouts only last for about 20 minutes and they can be done on treadmills and elliptical.  The best thing about interval training is that you can burn calories twice as fast during the workout and even when you are done your body will burn calories for up to another 24 hours after.

Become the Next Winner on She’s Got the Look

You too can become the next winner on She’s Got the Look!  You just need to have confidence in yourself and focus.  There are going to be a lot of thing trying to knock you off track from friends and family members who tell you what you are doing is wrong to all the food that is going to be at in front of you to eat.  Just remember the choices you make now result in how you look and feel later.

Can You Tone Fat Away?

So I was at my friend’s house last night when his wife walks in from the gym saying her trainer told her she could tone fat away from certain body parts.  I almost died laughing when I heard that a personal trainer would tell someone that doing something like crunches can help them tone fat.  Really tone fat?  How in the world can you tone fat?  You either lose fat or gain fat, but tone and fat really should never be mentioned together in my opinion.

“Sadly there is no magic trick for fat loss or toning your muscles.  Unlike pulling a rabbit out of a hat no one can magicially make fat disappear.  Don’t be fooled into thinking that you are doing something that is impossible to do such as toning fat.”

The Sad Reality of This

I started talking to my friend’s wife and discovered that she had heard this from several other people when I began to see that so many women are being mislead to believe the wrong information in regards to toning and fat loss.  See I have been out with my friends and see how many calories she puts in from one meal.  Just looking at her diet I could tell that she would not be able to lose fat.

The problem was that she put all her focus on weight training and cardio and hardly any effort on her diet. For some reason a lot of women don’t account the amount of fat that they have to the amount of food that they eat.  So it only makes sense that the last thing they would think about when it comes to weight loss and body fat would be calories.

No One Wants the Truth

As I tried to discussing with my friend’s wife that she could indeed tone (build) her muscles she would actually have to create a calorie deficit to lose fat.  Before I could even explain to her what I was talking about she starting saying that I didn’t know what I was talking about and the only reason I was in shape was because of my high metabolism.  Her words where that almost of the women at her job had been told the same thing so what I was telling couldn’t be true.

So I simply asked her,” If most of her co-workers in shape or have they lost any weight?”  Her reply to me was,” Not yet but the can feel that their muscles are being worked because they are so sore they day after and they are sweating a lot.”

The Whole Misconception

After hearing that from her I started to understand how someone could get away with making money and keep clients by telling them to tone fat away.  A lot of people don’t want to hear the truth and for others they simply hear something so much that they actually believe it to be true.  Having sore muscles maybe a slight indication of toning or muscle growth but has nothing to do with fat loss.

While doing exercises and cardio does help you do burn calories it doesn’t mean that you are doing enough work on a weekly basis to create enough of a calorie deficit for fat loss.  I don’t know how many times I hear a woman tell me she didn’t lose weight this week because she gained muscle.  Really, I highly doubt that as it takes an extremely longer rate of time to build muscle than it does to lose fat.

If it Sounds Too Good

I someone is telling you something that sounds too to be true than if probably isn’t.  There is no easy way to lose fat other than reducing calorie intake.  Exercise and cardio are definitely needed but 80% will come for what and how much you eat.

A crunch exercises abdominal muscles but will not tone fat away from that area.  I see countless numbers of women trying to tone fat by doing thigh, arm and abs exercises only to hear the reason they haven’t seen weight loss on the scale that week was because the gain muscle weight.  I don’t want you to be that person that is being misled with bogus information like my friend’s wife was.
