Benefits of a Jump Rope Workout for Women

So Have You Ever Tried Using A Jump Rope to Workout?

I lot of women have jumped rope as a child and a jump rope workout may seem like mere child’s play.  However I don’t think most people understand how beneficial skipping rope can be and how difficult it is.  Jumping rope is not your average kid’s game that should be taken lightly and I am betting that most of you reading this haven’t jumped rope since you were about 10 years old.  I have posted in the past on a great workout routine to use for jumping rope but this time I wanted to give you the benefits.

Benefits of Jumping Rope For Women

 Easy to Learn

One of the best things about a jump rope workout is that it is easy to learn.  Knowing  you don’t have to spend hours learning how to jump rope is a great benefit as many women get discouraged about having to something that is extremely difficult and confusing.  For most women jumping rope is a simple as remembering how to ride a bike and if you don’t know how simply practicing 2-4 days a week for about 5 minute per day will be all that it takes.

Improves Coordination and Agility

I know a lot of people that trip over their own feet simply by walking.  When you start working out using a jump rope you will increase your eye hand coordination as well as your agility.  Jumping rope requires you to have great timing, endurance and strength.  As you get better at skipping rope your overall endurance will improve and most of the muscles in your body will become stronger.

No Need for a GYM

That’s right, you can forget about needing a gym membership and having to waste time driving to a gym.  It cost almost nothing to purchase a rope and workout in the comfort of your own home or outside.  Not only will you be saving money but you will be able to pack you rope and take it with you on vacations or on business trips so there is no excuse for not being able to exercise.

Works Almost Every Muscle in the Body

You want a better butt, sexier legs, nice flat abs, and strong sleek arms then this is the workout for you.  A jump rope workout will work most, if not completely all, the muscles in your body in couple of fluid motions.  By working out with a rope you will work your shoulders, core muscles, butt (women love that), and legs.  Your midsection really gets worked because you have to use your abs to stabilize your entire body.

Rope Skipping To Lose Weight

While some people would consider a jump rope workout to be an anaerobic type of exercise and not good for losing weight or fat I have found that jumping rope to be great for a cardio workout.  I will not only help you develop a higher fitness lever but it will also help with better stamina and is great for releasing HGH that the body naturally produces.  These things will help the body burn fat more effectively when performing exercises using high intensity interval training.

A Quick “How to” on Jumping Rope

When jumping rope only jump about 1 to 2 inches off of the ground.  You only want to leave enough space for rope to slide under your feet and only the balls of your feet should touch the floor.  This is what makes your calves look great.

Keep your elbows close to your body as you turn the rope using your wrists. The movement of the rope itself will come from your wrists and forearms and not from you using your shoulders.

If you can’t jump rope for the entire workout you should put the rope down and just use your arms and legs as if you were still jumping with the rope.

Make sure you are using a rope that fits you.  Place the jump rope on the floor with your feet in the center and lift up the handles.  The handles should not come pass your collarbone.

NOTE: It’s quite amazing how you can improve your overall health and fitness by adding a jump rope workout to your routine.

Thanks a lot I appreciate you stopping by and enjoying the content. This is why I post for others to voice their opinions and concerns. Usually not everyone agrees but everyone has his/her own opinion or questions. Jumping rope will help get you in to great shape if you do it properly and eat right.

  3. Hey Thomas,

Excellent article on the benefits of a jump rope workout. Not only is it very effective for training the entire body (if done right) but also lots of fun and very challenging. All you need is a good rope, comfortable clothes to work out in and a good pair of sneakers/fitness shoes. It may take a little time to develop proper jump rope technique, but with a little effort any trainee can do this like a champ.

Great to see you on the site as usual and thanks for posting a comment! I’m glad you enjoyed the post and like you mentioned there is not much needed other than a rope and some time. Technique usually will simply get better with time and you don’t have to be great at jumping rope just do it 2-3 times a week like you stated you will be doing it like a champ.
