Losing Weight and Enjoying Life
You know so much gets put into losing weight that women forget to enjoy life itself! For so long my wife’s focus was on losing weight that life simply passed her by for about 3 years. This weekend we decided to take a mini vacation to Ft. Lauderdale where we stayed at the B Hotel.
This was a great break for the both of us as we needed a break from our busy lives. With her working more hours then she cares too and me working full-time and running this site we tend to be very busy. It was great to unwind, relax and not have to worry about anything for a couple of days.
Are You Really Enjoying Life?
This is a question I ask because I remember a few years ago it seemed as though nothing my wife did made her “happy”. Being a man, she said I just didn’t understand where she was coming from. I was lost I didn’t understand if we were going on vacations, she was spending time with her girlfriends, and getting promoted at her job how she couldn’t be happy.
My wife was sick of how her body looked and how it made her feel. It didn’t matter how beautiful I told her she looked in the inside it was killing her. She hated her wide hips and thighs simply because nothing she bought ever seemed to fit and how nothing see did seemed to change her shape.
If she found clothing that fit her thighs and hips they were too big in the waist or the clothing just didn’t fit right at all. She would spend hours in the gym, go running 5 times a week and still there was no change. She felt miserable to say the least.
Those Where The Days
Gone are the days (not all of them) of my wife being upset with how she looked. She has been able to make drastic changes in her appearance and she is enjoying life to the fullest. It’s amazing how something like losing weight can have such an effect on a person.
She doesn’t have to worry about starving herself and enjoys eating all the foods she used to eat before. The difference now is that she has found a diet (read here) that works for her so she doesn’t feel like the odd ball when she goes out. She no longer spends hours in the gym doing cardio only to not see any results. Three times per week she does her turbulence training and in 20-30mins tops she’s done.
The weight has continuously come off and she is looking and feeling as beautiful and confident as ever. No her hips and thighs are not completely where she wants them but she knows what works for her and each week she is seeing continuous improvement.
This was a photo I took from the room window on Memorial Day. The horizon and sunrise reminds me of a new beginning for my wife, myself and this site. What gives you a sense of a new beginning?
This Weekend Was A Simple Reminder
For me it was a simple reminder of how far my wife had come over the years. The fear of going to the beach, wearing a bikini, going shopping or simply wearing a particular dress that made her insecure are almost completely gone. Not only is she losing weight but she’s happy, which is the most important thing of all!
She has found a balance in life that allows her to not have to kill herself in the gym, spend long hours doing cardio and most of all gives her results. Life shouldn’t be just about losing weight but its amazing how losing weight allows some people to actually live life.
Find your balance and enjoy life!

Changing for the Better
For the first few months when I first started my blog I had no idea of what I wanted to write about. I knew I wanted to start a blog and knew I wanted to help women achieved the look they desired, but instead of following what I thought I should be doing I went with what everyone else was doing. BAD MOVE!
Then enters my wife who is the love of my life (most of the time) pictured above. Like I mentioned in the previous post she read over a few articles and was like O-M-G. (Read that post here) So I did a little soul searching and decided that I would change my blog to what is should have been in the first place.
What am I Changing Here?
Well for one thing I actually have a story to tell that shows I know what you are going through and that I can actually help you get where you want to be. You see that lovely women pictured above with all the smiles wasn’t always a happy camper! Of course when she’s not happy my life is miserable needless to say.
Over the years I have seen my wife’s weight go up and down and all around. I have shared with her successes and been there when she needed someone to push her harder. Using a couple of simple approaches (three to be exact) I was able to help my wife go from the pictures below to the pictures you see above.

The pictures above were of my wife in 2008 when she let WORK, being a WIFE and LIFE in general take its toll on her body. She didn’t know what to do and to her it seemed like the world was on her shoulders. Of course I was there complaining saying that she wasn’t working hard enough to lose weight but the fact was she was working too hard. Actually too hard doing all the WRONG things!
My wife had a problem of jumping from one diet to the next and the same with exercise routines. If she didn’t see results quick enough she would think it was a waste of time. Another issue is that she is a people person so she enjoys doing what all her girlfriends are doing.
The biggest problem with doing what everyone else is doing is that a lot of times no one gets results but you stick it out because you are all are there to support one another. After not losing weight for months on end my wife was finally ready to listen to me!
Can you believe my wife was actually willing to listen to me?
What I will be doing here on Waist Hips & Thighs is sharing with you the story of how using Eat Stop Eat, Turbulence Training, and now Visual Impact for Women (her current workout) I was able to help transform my wife’s body.
NOTE: Remember ladies losing weight is a process! It’s not easy and if it was every woman would have the body they desired. As for my wife she still feels she has a long way to go but I know if she continues using these three programs she will get there.

In the Words of My Wifey, OMG!
O-M-G! This is what I heard from the Mrs. last night when were discussing my site and what I was looking to do in the future. You see I started this site about a year ago in April and with the help of my mentor I have seen my visitors grow from zero to over 1k per day.
Well here lies the problem; I don’t really feel like I am helping anyone and I think that it’s mainly my fault. I started with a plan of writing great content to engage you the reader to post comments, ask questions and hopefully help you with your weight loss issues. But then I got consumed with the number of people who visit and less about what was important which was HELPING others.
So Last Night I Figured I’d Make a Change
You see when my wife looked at my site and read some of the articles the first thing I heard was O-M-G! (I think that’s her new favorite word but it’s really driving me nuts to say the least.) So she says to me BAE, what is this? What are you doing? This is so not you! I felt like I was back in school and my mother was upset because I got a bad score on a test or something.
She wasn’t happy with the content and felt as if though for the past couple of months I have been cheating both YOU and MYSELF and I would have to agree. Instead of writing great content and focusing on being ME I fell into the trap of doing what all other site are doing and NOT doing ME.

Here’s the DEAL!
Women who come to my site are looking for a few things, how to lose weight, how to get a smaller waist, how to get rid of wide hips, and etc. From now on that’s all my entire site is going to be about hence the name WAIST HIPS & THIGHS in the first place.
To give it a personal touch I am going to make it a point to let you know things that are going on in my life as well so you get to know me Thomas “the person” and not just someone who writes on a blog. In return I want you to let me know how you feel and topics you want to talk about.
My Wife is ALL KINDS OF UPSET (her words not mine)
See the funny thing is that my wife thinks I am so difficult to deal with (see she still loves me though) yet feels I’ve been being too nice and trying to please EVERYONE. My site isn’t for everyone! It’s for women who have issues and want solutions to their WAIST HIPS & THIGHS! Not how to get rid of flabby arms, not the best clothes to wear, not how to gain 10lbs of muscle. SORRY DID THAT! NOT DOING IT ANY MORE!!!
TODAY MARKS A NEW JOURNEY!
A new journey starts for this site, my readers and friend and also for me as I focus more on the things that matter the most. My beautiful wife often has problems with her waistline, hips and thighs too so don’t think YOU are the only one. You are not alone and I would like you to come along with me as I share our journey and along the way I will help you get the body you want in the process.
BE EASY,

Diet Myths That Women Should IGNORE!
It so amazing that when we hear things so often we begin to believe that they are true even if there is nothing to really back up the claim. One could really say that if one hears something frequently enough you will actually start to believe that it is true. When it comes to weight loss this is definitely true.

Well ladies I can almost assure you that you have heard some weird diet myths while trying to lose weight. While there are a lot of them out there I just wanted to post a brief list of things that you should really ignore going forward.
Gain More Muscle to Burn Calories
This one almost makes me laugh as when you really do the math is more like one pound of extra muscle will help you burn maybe 10 calories per day if that. So that means a woman would need to gain 20lbs of muscle just to burn an extra 200 calories per day! I don’t really think that most women are looking to bulk up.
The sad truth is that women hear this from trainers and doctor’s so it’s no wonder there is much confusion. Sure adding a little muscle will help you burn some calories but it is nowhere near what people will have you “THINK” it is. The harsh reality is that it’s just been accepted as the truth for so many years that everyone believes it.

Eat More to Increase Your Metabolism
Have you ever heard this one, “You need to eat at least six times per day to help boost your metabolism”? The fact is there Is no research to prove or validate anything in regards to remotely true. Sure a lot of people who are in shape or have the bodies you want eat six meals or more per day. There are also a lot of people who eat 1, 2, and 3 meals per day who are just a fit.
The point is you have to get out and exercise, be more active, and be accountable for what and how much you eat. Your metabolism isn’t going to speed up simply because you are eating 6 small meals per day. If anything you are probably just eating fewer calories than you were when you at how you normally ate in the first place.
Only Eat Carbs in the Morning & Don’t Eat Late At Night
I never understood this one at all! With the “only eat your carbohydrates in the morning” to “don’t eat any carbs after 3 in the afternoon”. None of this really ever makes any since other than most people won’t really eat much of anything if they can’t have some form of carbs.
The not eating late is really at great one its almost a classic. So many times I hear people say I can’t eat after 7 or 9 but then they go and have a 2000 calorie meal at 6. C’mon now are we really serious with losing weight or not.
If you eat 3000 calories in the morning it’s the same as you eating 3000 calories at night. To be honest I prefer eating my largest meals when it’s later so I don’t snack all night. Just remember the number of calories you eat matters more than when you eat them.
Exercising Will Make you Hungry
This one is a touchy subject for me because this is one myth I believe to be true myself. Years ago I realized that I like many others just assumed this to be true. Though many people will say that exercising will make them hungry there are studies that show just the opposite to be true. I would beg to differ that it’s in our subconscious that we think we need to eat because we worked out.
Here is research done on physical activity and appetite control.
Please post some of the myths you have heard over the years that you know to be false or post some that you have questions about because you aren’t sure if they are actually myths or not.
Men and Women Are Just Different – Part 2
Last week I did a post about how men and women differ when it comes to losing weight and working out. I thought it would be better to get input from readers before I actually finished the post. A lot of people replied to the post both men and women.
Overall I would say that it would seem that women don’t like doing activities for fun if it’s going to get categorized as exercise and you seem to let one mishap mess up an entire week.
So What Does This Mean?
I’m not expert but this would seem to be a problem with a person’s way of thinking. Whether you want to believe me or not before you will ever lose weight you are going to have to change the way you think. The first step in fat or weight loss is not getting a gym membership, counting calories or even the food you eat.
Know instead the biggest battle you are going to face in the battle of losing weight is your mind. It’s all about the way you perceive things to be and changing the way you view things. Your current attitude and opinions about weight loss, dieting, exercising and activity has to be taken into account before you can move on.
It’s a Marathon Not a Sprint
The feelings and beliefs you have about eating healthy and fat loss have to be adjusted to realistic terms before anything else is even considered. Why, because losing weight and keeping it off is about a lifestyle change and is a long term commitment. You have seen people lose weight and then in a few months they are back to gaining the weight again.

Doing activities outside of the gym and being active doesn’t have to be negative or even boring. But in order for it to work you have to change your views about them. Instead of thinking of volleyball, running or swimming as working out think of them as things you enjoy doing (pick something you enjoy doing!)
When you are playing tennis or eating smaller portions think about how great you look and feel rather than focusing on the negative aspects.
You Owe Yourself That Much
The one thing you have to remember is that you first have to make a commitment to yourself and stick with it. There is no need going to the gym if you are going to consistently go out with friends and over eat and drink empty calories.

You must be willing to make a commitment to yourself and let go all of the negative feelings you have about weight loss, calorie counting and working out. Instead be positive and look at all the wonderful things that will come about from your new lifestyle.
Not only will you get stronger, feel better, and have more energy but you will look awesome! You have to be realistic and not let roadblocks get you down. We all have roadblocks but its how you deal with them that matters most. Stay the course, be realistic, and most of all accept the fact that fat loss takes time and patience.
Everyone messes up but one “BAD” meal or day should not RUIN the ENTIRE week!
