No matter how hard you try it’s just not going to happen. You can kill yourself in the gym on that elliptical or treadmill all you want. You could be working out seven days per week, your ass will just not lose weight unless you change your eating habits.
Take a look at that burger, I know people who will not only eat that but fries and a drink as well. A triple whopper at Burger King has over 1000 calories and that’s not including anything else!
A friend of mine is in the gym every Monday through Friday for at least an hour each day. Doing the stair stepper, treadmill, weights, swimming pool, spin class, you name it she does it. So this goes on for about a month and I finally ask, “How much weight did you lose?” Her reply, “Not one damn pound!”
I Could Have Told Her That
I knew she wouldn’t have lost much weight if anything at all. Why, well she stops at Starbucks every morning for a coffee and muffin, snacks on whatever people bring to work, eats out for lunch every day, goes out to happy hour (fruity drinks = high calories), and the weekends, well let’s just say it doesn’t get better.
Whats the Problem
Well the problem is that many women fail to realize how many calories they are burning in the gym verses what they are eating outside of it. The fact is that at the most an hour of working out will probably burn is 600 calories if you are lucky. That’s great you think, well not really if you are going to over compensate by eating more.
On your lunch you go to the gym and spend 30 minutes on your favorite machine and it tells you that you’ve burnt 500 calories. You get back to work and your co-worker baked a cake last night and wants you to try a slice. A slice of that cake has 450 calories in it and its so good you take a slice home. You share half with your boyfriend or husband (whatever he is) so that’s another 200 calories. Just the one slice alone cancelled out your entire time on the treadmill not to mention the half you had at home.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is you end up spinning your wheels to not lose weight. This is because even though you are working out you are still eating more calories than you should. Basically, all you really are doing by working out is keeping yourself from gaining MORE weight and that’s all. Sad but true, you can exercise until you pass out but the pounds aren’t going to go anywhere.
NOTE: The next time you are on the treadmill or elliptical write down how many calories you burned and how long it took you to burn it. Then find one of your most favorite foods and check the amount of calories in it and how long it takes to eat it. What I want you to decide is if it’s worth it?
I haven’t used this diet and nor do I plan on using it but I figured that reviewing it may not be a bad idea. I know that there are a lot of people out there that want to really know how and if this type of diet actually works so I decided I would look into the Hollywood Cookie diet.
What is it?
Basically the name says it all! It is a diet that is based on the premises that all you eat are cookies. So for breakfast, lunch, and dinner you have a cookie with the cookies substituting for snacks as well. The cookies themselves are suppose to contain all the necessary nutrients that one would get just as if they we eating normal meals.
In General Terms
You are going to be eating 4-6 cookies per day with each cookie containing roughly 200 or so calories. So for the average person that eats five cookies they will consume about 1200 calories per day. Now if you generally eat 2000 or more calories in a single day you could bet that you are going to drop serious weight.
Does it make sense?
Yes of course it does, since what the cookie diet is basically getting you to do is what I recommended to everyone already, EAT LESS CALORIES! If you can actually stick to eating less calories you could be on the eat anything diet, as long as you get all your nutrients, and you will see weight loss. It’s not rocket science although some people making losing weight a lot more difficult than it has to be.
I know two people that use the cookie diet and I must say the results are outstanding. They have lost a lot of weight in a reasonable amount of time. Both women have continued to keep the weight off even after the diet. I think that its because they have continued to eat less calories then before and exercise frequently.
The one thing I have notice is that a diet of this nature can be costly. If you are single or just make that much money then it may be okay for your budget. However, if like most, you shop for your family all at once it could get a little costly to spend money on groceries and another $100-$250 per month on your own cookie supply.
Don’t think so? Look at all the sprinters in the world from high school to the Olympics and you will see living proof. Almost 90% of sprinters have the butts that most women are working hard to get. A lot of women are doing tons of squats and lunges but not too many have ever thought of sprinting on the track or on a field.
Take a look at this picture on the right, this sprinter Alenka Bikar. For the most part this is how most sprinters look. The good thing is that sprinting usually keeps both your thighs and butt all proportionate.
When you walk there is joint action that takes place from the time your front leg hits the ground until it being pulled back as you push forward, this is called hip extension. Basically this is what the gluteus maximus is for so when you run you need to do all of this very quickly. The faster you run or sprint the more the glutes get worked. Sprinters do these hundreds of times daily and explosively and this is why you will notice a great difference between a sprinter and a marathon runner’s shape.
Sprinting over Traditional Exercises
Well, the most important reason is that sprinting tends to give you an overall firmer bum! Whereas the other traditional exercises such as lunges, squats, and deadlifts tend to actually increase the size of not only your hips, but also your thighs, hamstrings, and butt. Most women seem to only want to firm up or have a more rounded bottom not necessarily a BIGGER one!
But She Was Just Born With It
Yes, some women are just born with a nice firm round bottom while others have to work on it! The good news is that for your glutes genetics play less of a role than you think. You see unlike some other muscle groups your butt isn’t really limited. In other words, the playing field is a little more even in the race to having a great butt!
What to do
What to do – Run as fast as you can for 10-20 seconds, then rest or walk for 1 minute. Perform this 8 times followed by 10 minutes of cool down.
What to do – Stand with a wider-than-shoulder-width stance, with your feet angled out slightly. Hold your kettlebell between your legs with both hands.
Push your hips back and squat down while hold your chest high. Squat down until your kettlebell is below knee level. Explosively pull your hips forward hips forward (extend your hip joint) as you swing the kettlebell up to chest height whle keeping your arms straight.
Keep the swinging/squatting action going for 10-20 seconds making sure that you maximally squeeze your butt (lock out your hips) with each swing.

I see so many women doing countless numbers of ab exercises for a flatter stomach. It’s amazing to me that trainers have so many women doing some sort of abdominal exercise whether its crunches, ab roller, ab lounge, and others. The thing is that you probably already have the best set of abs in the world; the problem is that you are never going to be able to see them! That’s right all that work with nothing to show for it, it sucks doesn’t it?
Do Ab Machines and Ab Exercises Work?
The answer to that is both “YES” and “NO”. Confused, well you should be because most of the information you have probably gotten to the point has probably been dead wrong. Ab machines and exercises work in the sense that they do in fact make your core muscles (you know abs & mid-section) stronger and larger if done properly. The problem is that they don’t make your abs visible which is what 90% of women want.
Don’t Believe Me Take A Look Around

What I Suggest
Well that’s simple, just cut back on the calories and get your butts off of the floor. Seriously, all that time on the floor doing crunches and all that other stuff is pointless if your diet isn’t intact and you aren’t exercising regularly. You would be better off jogging or walking on the beach at least that way you are burning calories.
NOTE: I’m not saying that ab exercises don’t have their place in the fitness and health world. What I am pointing out is that it’s not relative to giving women what they want which is a nice flat stomach with VISIBLE abs definition.
